Technical requirements
If you use your proper name servers they should be configured in advance. The configuration of these name servers must come up to the requirements that AFNIC postulated.
Naming conventions
All letters (a-z) and numbers (0-9) are allowed, hyphens (-) are also allowed, however not at the beginning or at the end of the domain name. A domain name should be between 3 and 63 characters long.
.fr domain names transfers to UniNames are possible. The transfer itself for a .fr domain name is free, but is considered as a new registration; therefore a 1-year fee will be charged (or more years on request).
Exactly 1 year after you have transferred your domain name it will expire. Keep in mind that any remaining registration time at your former agent will be lost.
Procedure
.fr transfers can be requested by sending a transfer request through our website. Please be aware of the rules that also apply to a new registration.
The old agent and new agent will then receive an e-mail from AFNIC with the information that a transfer has been initiated. The domain owner should contact his old agent to let him know that a transfer procedure was requested
Additional conditions
When requesting a transfer, the domain owner should make sure that all engagements towards his old agent are respected.
The domain owner should be aware of the fact that AFNIC will send an e-mail to the old agent to inform him of this transfer. The old agent has then the possibility to oppose to this request. This should happen within 2 weeks upon the transfer request.
If the old agent does not oppose within these 2 weeks, the transfer will be executed within the next 2 weeks.
If the old registrar should oppose to this transfer, the transfer request can be suspended up to 6 weeks.
The transfer should be initiated some time before the domain name expires. This to avoid that a transfer request is still being processed when the domain has passed its expiration date. If this happens the owner is responsible for the payment of possible fees that may be charged by the current registrar.

*Changes are processed in real-time but due to the nature of the domain name system it might take 24 to 48 hours before the changes are propagated worldwide.
The .fr WHOIS zone files are updated every 5 minutes.
Updates can be done by any UniNames account having edit permissions on the domain name.
It is possible to change the admin and technical contacts at any given time. When the owner contact information is changed, AFNIC will verify if this change is legal. If not the changes will be cancelled.
Changes made through our web interface will be processed within six days upon the request. It is still possible that your request will not be approved.
The billing contact of the domain name will automatically receive an invoice to renew the domain name. The domain name will automatically be renewed unless you notify UniNames of the denunciation.
If the owner or the billing contact asks us to let the domain name expire:
the domain owner will be notified by e-mail
the domain billing contact will be notified by e-mail
the accounts with permissions on the domain name will be notified by e-mail
