Fetch

When you first run Fetch this is what appears on your screen:

To copy files (pages, pictures etc.) for your web space from your computer to the Internet you need to remove the information here so you are left with a blank screen:

and enter the following information:

Host: www.yourdomainname.be
User ID: Your UserName
Password: Your Password
Directory ../../web/

Once you click OK the computer will then connect you to the web space on the Internet that holds the files (pages, pictures etc.) and folders for your web site and will display them as a list like this:

To copy files from your computer to the Internet click on the Put File button

This will then show a box where you select the file(s) you want to copy.

Or to copy files from your web space back to your computer select the file on your web space you want to copy and then click the Get File button

and then select where on your computer you want to store the file.

Viewing your web page

To view the page you just uploaded, use the following URL in your web browser:

    http://www.yourdomainname.be

This only works, if you named your file index.html. In cas you named your file otherwise, you need to specify the filename as well :

http://www.yourdomainname.be/yourfile.html

Tips

HTML filenames are case sensitive
  • We recommend you upload your files in lowercase only.
  • When you write your html files, refer to any image or other html files in lowercase.
Usernames and passwords are case sensitive
If you signed up with UniWeb, and chose Marc (with a capital M) as login name, typing marc (with a lowercase m) as username, when you publish, would not work. The same applies to passwords.
